For your makeup to look perfect makeup application is the key. Here are my two favorite ways for makeup application.

For makeup application, there are several different ways. But for me, I do one of the following makeup application techniques depending on my mood, time and color choices.

Basic Makeup Application

The following is how I apply my makeup on a regular basis. It is a simple way to get everything done with out leaving something out.

  • First start with concealer to cover any skin imperfections you may have.
  • The second step is foundation to even skin tone.
  • Set everything with a light layer of powder.
  • Blush to highlight and define your facial features.
  • Then apply the eye makeup: eye shadows, eyeliner, curl lashes and apply mascara.
  • Don't forget your eyebrows, even if you don't fill in your brows, at least brush them.
  • Before you dash out the door, apply your lip products such as, lip liner, lipstick and a touch of gloss.

Detailed Makeup Application

This is the order of makeup application when I want to look the best of the best. I also use this when I am applying make up for a bridal party or a young woman heading to the prom. It is also perfect if you love to use dark eye shadows.

  • First make up the eyes, using eye shadows, eyeliner, and mascara.
  • Then apply a light layer of moisturizer to clean up any flaking of eye products on to your skin.
  • Next apply concealer
  • Foundation
  • Powder
  • Take care of your eyebrows
  • Blush
  • Finish by applying your lip products.

Now of course this is not the only way to apply makeup but the way I believe works the best. However if you want to play up the lips by using a brighter or darker shade of lipstick then do your lips first and eyes last. This way you won't over power the other.
